We are looking for a Social Researcher for an early January 2022 start, to help us interview our older members of our Barking & Dagenham community & understand how ageing is affecting their health. We will use this research to make improvements in the health and social care and quality of life of older people.
This is a chance to get involved in a three-month project supporting the development of our linked dataset – the ‘Care City Cohort’ – that includes individual and household level linked data across health, care and some other council services. We are looking for people to carry out structured telephone interviews, working remotely. Your research will help to expand what we know about the health and wellbeing of older people and we will use this insight to help address health inequality.
About Us
Care City is a Community Interest Company. We research, innovate and educate to enable a happier, healthier older age. We aim to be the innovation partner to our local health and care system. We have the freedom to take risks and be radical, and the partnerships to achieve real, practical change. We are a young organisation, and a talented, committed and friendly team.
About you
You may have some experience of research. This opportunity would suit someone studying a Masters or has Qualitative Research experience for example, who is keen to learn more about health inequality and work flexibly with us to deliver accurate data and information.
Equally you may not have formal research experience or qualifications, just a desire to want to help health and social care do better, so that we can make population health a priority for all.
Whatever your background, you will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and good interpersonal skills to develop and maintain relationships. You will be confident in using Microsoft Office software and have high levels of accuracy and attention to detail for handling data and reporting research findings.
